Coco Rocha Went Black

COCO ROCHA HAS GONE BLACK!!!!!

i.e. she died her hair black. Her fabulous, beautiful, fiery red hair is now a morbid "soccer mom" cut, black!

If I was that hair dresser, I would have stopped her.

How could she!?

Savor the picture to your right before you read on to see the heartbreak.

Photo courtesy of ohsococo.blogspot.com, her actual blog. So, yes, it is legit.

The New Skull and Bones

Tom Binns is not new on the fashion front by any means. He's been designing since roughly before I was born, and I'm little shy of two decades old. Because both the world and I have known about him for quite some time, he's not a *Designer Discovery* today, however I've never talked about him. Mr. Binns is a beacon of edginess and originality often squashed between couture gowns and Louboutin stilettos. For a guy who's managed to stay unparalleled and forever rebellious (and he rubs elbows with Vivienne Westwood, I mean come on), he deserves at least two cents on my humble behalf. And, I had a Binns binge today and virtually raped his website all afternoon. But we can say this post is because of the former.

Oh, and he designs jewelry.

Tom Binns is kind of like the old man next door who's secretly a serial killer, except he kills with fashion. His jewelry is iconic to say the least. He's the Punk Peter Pan; he never grew out of it. His designs can range from gaudy and flashy gems to obscure and modern but what he's most known for is his punk pieces.

Pieces like these...

This piece was featured in bronze and copper at Barneys for a little while.

Bits like that, that are wild and random, but carefully selected at the same time. I mean a railroad spike? Come on, thats downright cool for lack of a better word. His pieces are like what would happen if you let your lazy, punk rocker of a neighbor into your grandmother's jewelry box. Like this...

It's more highly regarded than hipster, but not quite as filthy as punk. It's almost grown-up-punk, at grown up prices too.

These pieces are not for fashionistas. They cost a pretty penny, enough to the point where few are offered online. The ever faithful net-a-porter.com features a slim sampling, but that's all I could conjure up.

I adore his work, in a nutshell. It's everything I want to be; pearls and class, with a youthful wild twist. He's just a simple irish dude, chilling in LA and yet he embodies the likes of Coco Rocha, Allison Mosshart, and Georgina Sparks.

Anyway, here are some of my favorites. Live vicariously.

Check out his website tombinnsdesign.com if you're down for goggling at what you can't have. Anyway, his Real Deal, Modern Classic, and Classic collections are my favorites. For the high society rebellion, his Tough Chic collection is the one to see.

Look What I Found!

I found this blog in one of the most unlikely places: Rugby's Blog. You know, that store that makes Ralph Lauren for college kids which happens to be my second love. Anyway, this blog is really cool because people all over the place send in scans of photos or notes that they have "found." They can find these things anywhere, on the street, in stores, in their offices, in the trash. Where they're from is not really as important as the curious intimacy and randomness of these odd glimpses into people's lives. The ones written by kids are the best, of course.

Read more to see some of my favorites that I've "found" on the site. There are so many and going chronologically is not as fun as picking one, and then looking at the related ones on the bottom of that post and navigating that way. It's almost as if you're finding these scraps on the ground yourself. Go get a bored afternoon and have at it.

*Designer Discovery* - Tracy Feith

Ever since I first saw Brittany Snow as Lily Rhodes on Gossip Girl in this outfit, I had something occur in my mind that I thought would never fabricate: an appreciation for the eighties. The entire outfit insnares me, from the leather jacket that seems to be forever en vogue to the hot pink Givenchy heels (god help me with my infatuation with those).

Where to acquire such an ensemble seemed so beyond me I had let go of that dream, but, lo and behold, my most favorite site, Racked.com, has come to my rescue exactly like Chuck came to Blair's last night; without me knowing.

The outfit on the left is designed by Tracy Faith in a collaboration with Target. Target always does the coolest collaborations, their most recent been Thakoon with Michelle Obama as a fan, well not of the Target line, but of Thakoon's original line. Anyways, that means that the clothes are cool, AND at a good cheap price! In honor of such a fabulous discovery, and the fabulous Gossip Girl episode last night, check out the coolest looks from Faith's line that hits stores and online May 17th!!!

This fab outfit is $49.99 for the dress and, hold your breath, $139.99 for the jacket. It is leather, but that makes it the cheapest leather jacket on the market! Cheaper even than the Matthew Williamson H&M one (albeit slightly less cool, but whatever).
This t-shirt is $14.99 and the skirt is $29.99. The skirt is a must!!
Pretty much the same blue dress in white, and only $44.99.

Spotlight on this sweater, its amazing. It's $29.99, *swoon*. The red shirt on the left is $24.99 and the shorts are $26.99. The cute little floral dress on the right, which is pretty stellar in it's own right, is $39.99.
Phew, and that wasn't even all of it.

Everything offered starting Sunday is HERE.

Tracy Feith doesn't have their (thanks fashitarian!) own website... yet. But they apparently have a boutique in NYC. I mean where else, right? When they become more accessible, and possibly consequently less cool, I'll let you know.

Busy Week: Lets Review

Okay, so this week I had my last finals and moved out of my dorms, ergo there was little time for blogging, but I kept tabs on a few things here and there so I would have SOMETHING to talk about. Honestly, talking about moving home for the summer might make me cry. Oh, god here i go...

Moving on. What happened this week?

Well, Verizon might do an Iphone, Bendel's is going naked, and Chuck loves Blair, officially. Lets begin.

IPHONE FOR VERIZON!? - Verizon has been in talks with Apple on creating an Iphone for Verizon network users to purchase, however, its not all sugar and sweet as it seems. It will not be an iphone, but rather and iphone "lite." It's cheaper (Yay!) but has almost none of the features (boo!). It might as well be a regular phone that looks like an Iphone. The reason why Verizion is getting such a short straw? They refuse to pay the stipend Apple will require them to pay in order to have the rights to the apps. The APPS!!!! I couldn't believe it either. L-A-M-E! LAME!

BENDELS GOING NAKED?! - No, not quite, but they are getting rid of their clothing floor in order to downsize and survive the recession. It seems Blair Waldorf alone cannot keep the glorious haven of fashion afloat. Let us grieve.

CHUCK LOVES BLAIR!? - This is rather self explanatory. If you tuned in like good loyal fans should, Chuck let Blair go to Nate in what seemed to be a moment of violent anger for fans like me and Cee, but was justified by Chuck telling Serena his actions had an alteiror motive. She questioned his decision, and his verbatum reply was "I love her." Chuck deemed himself unable to make Blair happy, and because of his love for her, he let her go. All of this happened in about a minute, and it was the best minute of the episode in my opinion. Save any scene Georgina was in. Those were pretty entertaining as well.

Phew!

Only normal posts from now on, I promise.
